State and federal leaders are trying to avoid sharing sensitive intelligence with the Alternative for Germany should it take power in a state’s elections next week.

Drawings obtained by The New York Times and reviewed by engineers show insufficient reinforcements on eight more steel columns than previously known at a Manhattan building.
Officials were careful not to point a finger, after revealing what they said was a plan for a political attack, at a time when a series of destabilizing actions have been blamed on Russia.
“This case shows that we are working on the assumption that the risk level is high,” Alexander Dobrindt, the German interior minister, said at a news conference on Friday.
