Gov. Greg Abbott, a staunch supporter of President Trump’s immigration agenda, is the first governor to call on the National Guard as protests spread to multiple cities.
Some of the National Guard troops ordered by President Trump arrived on Sunday, as protests against a series of workplace raids continued for a third day.
The harsh penalty was handed down to three members of the opposition who said they were voicing their community’s displeasure with proposed legislation.
