Officials investigating missing persons case find bodies in remote area of Lancaster, north of Los Angeles
Law enforcement officials are looking for additional victims after two bodies were found on Tuesday in a remote area of Lancaster, California, a small city about 70 miles north of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Authorities found the bodies in a shallow grave while they were investigating a missing persons case, according to KTLA. Outside of the sheriff’s department investigating the discovery of the remains as a homicide, little is known about the two people who were found in the shallow grave.

The Chicago White Sox used a big first inning and a three-run homer from Chase Meidroth to propel them to a 7-3 win over the Houston Astros on Wednesday and sweep their American League wildcard series.
It’s the first time Chicago have won a playoff series since beating Houston in the World Series in 2005. Under the direction of second-year skipper Will Venable and with a letter of support from Pope Leo XIV, the White Sox advanced to face AL Central champion Cleveland in the AL Division Series beginning Saturday in Cleveland.

Democratic governor sharply critical of Donald Trump for not passing comprehensive federal AI regulations
Governor Gavin Newsom signed laws Wednesday aimed at protecting California workers from the threats of artificial intelligence , including potential job losses and workplace surveillance.
The laws ban employers from using the technology to predict a worker’s emotional state by using their biometric data, require employers to send written notices to workers if AI is responsible for mass layoffs and ban employers from relying on AI to decide to fire someone.

Suspect Benny Caldera Jr held on bond as officials say they received ‘credible’ information about Austin threat
A 40-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of plotting to attack the Texas state capitol, authorities said.
The Texas department of public safety said in a statement that it received “credible information about an individual planning a violent attack” for Thursday in Austin.
