ATESH partisans sabotaged railway near Simferopol, occupied Crimea, 9 November 2025.

Agents of the Ukrainian partisan movement ATESH carried out a successful sabotage operation on a railway near Simferopol, Crimea, temporarily halting train traffic and disrupting Russian supply routes to the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia fronts, the group said on Sunday.

The ATESH movement operates as part of a wider network of Ukrainian partisans active in Russian-occupied territories. These underground groups carry out sabotage and intelligence gathering targeting supply lines, military bases, and occupation authorities, particularly in Crimea, where they aim to undermine Russia’s control and disrupt its military logistics.

According to ATESH, the attack targeted a key logistical artery used by Russian occupation forces to transport ammunition, fuel, and military equipment. The movement said the operation caused a direct interruption in deliveries to frontline units.

“The ATESH movement continues to systematically destroy the enemy’s transport infrastructure. Even deep in the rear in Crimea, the occupiers cannot feel safe,” the group stated on Telegram.

Crimea, illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, has seen a surge in partisan and drone activity aimed at weakening the peninsula’s role as a military hub for the invasion of Ukraine.

Ukrainian partisans say they "completely destroyed" a Russian communication station vehicle during a sabotage attack on a military airbase in Rostov-on-Don, according to the Ukrainian partisan movement Atesh. The group posted a video showing fuel burning under the cabin of a Kamaz-based relay truck and stated it was part of their latest operation against Russian military infrastructure. Southern Russia's Rostov Oblast is adjacent to the occupied eastern Ukraine, and Russian aircraft operating near the frontline are often launched from this region.

Amid the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war, Ukraine targets various military, defense-industry, and fuel facilities inside Russia with long-range drones, while carrying out a lower-profile sabotage campaign, targeting Russian railways signal system and any military equipment within the reach of the saboteurs.

Atesh claims deep-rear strike on Russian airbase

Atesh reported that its agents infiltrated the 229th aviation base in Rostov-on-Don and set fire to a vehicle equipped with the R-417 Baget radio relay station. The base belongs to the 4th Air and Air Defense Army of Russia’s Southern Military District. The group said the equipment was destroyed in the operation.

The R-417 station served as a mobile communication complex designed to transmit data between Russian units, manage flight operations, coordinate bomber sorties, and maintain airfield security. The system was developed in the 2000s as part of Russia’s modernization of operational communication networks.

Atesh described the targeted vehicle as a “critically important" node of communication and command.

A short video posted by Atesh shows flames under the Kamaz truck, with what appears to be a pool of burning fuel under the cabin. A plastic bottle is visible on the ground near the fire. The group did not specify the time of the operation and didn't show the consequences of the attack.

Partisan group Atesh says it destroyed an R-417 Baget communication station at a Russian airbase in Rostov-on-Don.

The group posted a video showing fire beneath the vehicle and said the attack disrupted flight coordination.

The group wrote in its Telegram post:

“Our agents carried out a successful operation at an enemy military airfield in Rostov-on-Don, part of the 229th Aviation Base of the 4th Air and Air Defense Army of the Southern Military District. The antenna vehicle of the R-417 “Baget” radio relay communication station, mounted on a KamAZ-4310 chassis, was completely destroyed.”

According to Atesh, this vehicle was a critical communication and command node, "providing coordination of aviation operations and data transmission between military units within the Southern Military District. Its destruction dealt a serious blow to the enemy’s ability to manage flights in real time, coordinate bomber missions, and ensure the airfield’s security."

In late October, Ukrainian partisans carried out another sabotage action in Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Oblast. During that incident, a railway track was blown up as a Russian military train was passing. The explosion derailed the locomotive, ten wagons, and one cover platform.

Russian soldiers are refusing to go on assaults in Donetsk Oblast. Agents of the partisan movement Atesh from Russia’s 115th Motor Rifle Brigade, stationed near Avdiivka, set fire to their own military truck after learning they were being sent on suicidal attacks near Pokrovsk, the group reports.

The Atesh group operates in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and also Russia. It was founded in 2022 in response to Russia’s all-out war. Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians, and even Russians who were mobilized into the Russian army are involved in the movement.

“With this act, the agents delayed the unit’s deployment and saved their lives. Soldiers see that command is sending personnel to certain death — without rest, evacuation, or regard for survival,” the partisans reveal.

According to Atesh, the sabotage not only saved the perpetrators’ lives but also delayed the redeployment of their unit to the front line, forcing commanders to reconsider their plans.

Soldiers at the breaking point

The Atesh movement stresses that the assaults near Pokrovsk have turned into a “meat grinder,” where Russian command ruthlessly throws in exhausted troops.

According to the latest reports, Russian forces control approximately 60% of Pokrovsk. Special units of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) are currently conducting an operation in the area. The operation is being personally overseen by HUR chief Kyrylo Budanov, who has been spotted on 1 November en route to the city.

Soldiers reportedly receive no rest, the wounded are left behind, and the dead are listed as “missing” to conceal real losses.

Sabotage as the last weapon

“Every Russian soldier can fight for his life without leaving his base! Sabotage is the most effective way to avoid being sent to die,” the agents declared.

They believe internal resistance has become the only means of survival in an army where a soldier’s life is worthless.

Wave of desertions in the 74th Brigade

Earlier, Atesh reported mass desertions within Russia’s 74th Brigade fighting near Pokrovsk, which continues to suffer catastrophic losses.

The situation in Pokrovsk is catastrophic. Russian forces are shooting Ukrainian women and children, while evacuation is impossible. People are burying their neighbours in their yards and have no access to food.

“Command, obsessed with capturing Pokrovsk as fast as possible, keeps throwing personnel into suicide assaults without pause or rest,” they said.

Over the past week alone, 38 soldiers abandoned their positions despite rear security groups being deployed to track down deserters.

Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a unique airborne operation — a successful parachute-free airdrop in the Pokrovsk area, according to the 7th Corps of the Air Assault Forces.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s monitoring project DeepState reports that Russian forces from the 170,000 grouping continue infiltrating the city in Donetsk Oblast. The occupation groups are being tracked or eliminated in multiple districts, expanding the “gray zone” of Russian reconnaissance and sabotage activity.

Women are also being used for infiltration. If an assault fails, they are ordered to change into civilian clothes to pass as civilians while conducting reconnaissance and reporting the movements of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

The situation in Pokrovsk is catastrophic. Russian forces are shooting women and children, while evacuation is impossible. On 22 October alone, Russians carried out 39 strikes by tactical aviation, dropping 156 aerial bombs toward Pokrovsk and nearby settlements. People are burying neighbors in their yards.

Russia needs Pokrovsk to push further into Donetsk Oblast.

Command is throwing anyone to the slaughter

This summer, Russia concentrated some 100,000 soldiers here. The occupiers are prepared to throw anyone to their deaths, turning women into cannon fodder, to fulfill losses.

“The regimental command, attempting to make up for personnel shortages, began forming assault companies from women,” partisans report.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense said that from 24 February 2022 to 18 October 2025, 1,129,180 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded.

Women used under cover of civilians for reconnaissance

Women are also being used for infiltration. If an assault fails, they are ordered to change into civilian clothes to pass as civilians while conducting reconnaissance and reporting the movements of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

“Our sources confirm: for these women there is no way back. Their lives depend solely on the ‘mercy’ of commanders, which can be earned only one way,” Atesh said.

The movement appeals directly to the regiment’s servicemen and to the women being sent to certain death: “Your life is more important than criminal orders. Do not become part of this cynical plan.”

Russian occupiers have lost one of their main supply arteries. Pro-Ukrainian partisans from the resistance movement “ATESH” carried out a sabotage operation on a strategically important Russian railway section near the settlement of Myslets in the Chuvash Republic, 1200 km from Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russia has significantly increased attacks on Ukraine's railways in the fall of 2025 to disrupt war logistics and make parts of the country uninhabitable. These strikes are possible due to Russia's ability to produce large numbers of drones with multiple Chinese and Western parts.

A precise detonation of infrastructure temporarily paralyzed the movement of Russian military trains.

A railway artery that fed the war

“This railway junction is critically important for transporting military cargo from factories in the Volga and Ural regions, including equipment, ammunition, and fuel,” ATESH reported.

Through this route, Russian forces transferred resources to the front, reducing delivery time to a minimum.

A cascade of disruptions and panic in Russia’s logistics headquarters

After the sabotage, Russian logistics in the area came to a halt: trains stopped and supplies were disrupted.

The Atesh group operates in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and also Russia. It was founded in 2022 in response to Russia’s all-out war. Crimean Tatars, Ukrainians, and even Russians who were mobilized into the Russian army are involved in the movement, providing intelligence on enemy positions, depots, equipment, and personnel.

The Russian command is now forced to reroute cargo through bypasses that are significantly longer, causing bottlenecks, delays, and chaos in the army’s supply system.
