More than 200 firefighters battled a blaze in the Greek island of Crete, but their work was made more difficult by heavy winds and rugged mountain terrain.
Weather agencies have warned of a third day of high temperatures that in some places have climbed well above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or more than 40 degrees Celsius.
An independent report found that officers should have arrested the driver, Anne Sacoolas, at the scene. She later claimed diplomatic immunity and fled Britain.
