Des partenaires majeurs viendront combler le manque à gagner d’environ 650 000 $ nécessaire pour boucler le montage financier. Leur identité devrait être dévoilée d’ici le 20 septembre.
Les joueurs pourront utiliser les installations déjà en place au club de golf, notamment le restaurant, le bar, les vestiaires et les salles de toilettes. L’arrivée du curling permettrait aussi à L’Empress de poursuivre ses activités à longueur d’année.
La facture du projet, d’abord évaluée à 3,3 M$, a depuis été ramenée à environ 2,2 M$.

Au début du mois d’août, le Club de curling avait confirmé avoir reçu une réponse de la Ville de Rimouski à sa demande d’aide financière, mais le montant accordé n’avait toutefois pas été dévoilé.
Le temps presse
Le temps commençait aussi à jouer contre le projet, puisque le Club de curling souhaitait faire avancer le dossier avant l’entrée en vigueur de nouvelles orientations gouvernementales en aménagement du territoire. Celles-ci auraient pu compliquer la construction d’un bâtiment près d’une voie ferrée.

Les démarches se poursuivaient également pour la vente du terrain actuel du Club de curling, dans le district Nazareth. Un promoteur souhaite y réaliser un projet immobilier.
