As blazes surge across Europe, the country is making a trade-off to protect its heritage by fireproofing sites at the risk of spoiling the surrounding landscape.
Initial assessments of the seized artifacts indicate that they may date back 1,000 to 5,000 years and be from Europe, Africa and the eastern Mediterranean.
