Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, the minority leader who has led Democrats in the House since 2022, is planning to campaign in competitive districts around the country.
Democrats are increasingly confident they will have a record number of women serving in the House next year, after backing women in competitive districts they are now positioned to win.
“I’m incredibly confident that we will pass that 100 mark,” Representative Teresa Leger Fernández of New Mexico, third from right, chairwoman of the Democratic Women’s Caucus, said in an interview. “The real issue is how far above it do we go.”
