Analysts say that weeks of Houthi attacks on Saudi targets have brought the kingdom and the Iranian-backed militia to the brink of full-blown conflict, and could open a new front in the Iran war.

The armed group, based in Yemen and backed by Iran, said it had launched missiles near the vital maritime trade route, in a conflict that shows no sign of abating.
The Yemeni government said the ship was carrying food supplies to a port on the Bab al-Mandab Strait while the Iran-backed Houthis accused Saudi Arabia of transporting weapons.
While the Middle East waits to hear whether a deal can be reached to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, the Yemeni government’s conflict with Iran-backed Houthi rebels escalated overnight.
