Rajendra Dawadi was teaching at the Tribhuvan Trishuli School when a staff member burst into the classroom, shouting that a major flood was headed their way.
The Hawk fire has burned over 15,000 acres and is encroaching on the northern part of the city. About 42,000 people are under formal evacuation orders and thousands more have been urged to flee.
Since last week, hazardous weather has caused seven deaths, forced people from their homes and required some to be rescued by boat. The region was at risk for more flooding on Sunday.
