The pro-Israel lobbying group appeared to be punishing Democrats it had endorsed for re-election after they voted in favor of an amendment that would have cut off U.S. aid to Israel.
In AIPAC’s web portal, the option of donating to House Democrats who voted to end U.S. aid to Israel was unavailable. That included Representative Katherine Clark of Massachusetts, left.
Representative Hakeem Jeffries, the Democratic minority leader and a staunch supporter of Israel, hosted two caucus meetings to discuss the amendment, a highly unusual move that indicated how fraught the politics around Israel have become for Democrats.
