US Coast Guard searches for missing air ambulance off coast of Massachusetts

The plane was undertaking a medical evacuation from Bermuda with six people onboard when it lost contact

The US Coast Guard said late on Saturday it had found debris from a medical transport aircraft off the shore of ⁠Massachusetts’ Nantucket Island and ⁠was searching for ​the six people who were on board.

The jet lost contact with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) during a flight from Bermuda to Boston on Saturday morning. In a statement to the Guardian, an FAA spokesperson said that the agency issued a search-and-rescue alert notice for a Gulfstream G-100 at about 1.20am local time Saturday.

Search Underway for Missing Plane Heading From Bermuda Off Nantucket

The plane, with four Canadians on board and two people picked up in Bermuda, lost contact shortly after 1 a.m. A search was underway Saturday off the coast of Nantucket, Mass.
