The main security service said it had detained a reporter for the Hokkaido Shimbun newspaper in Russia’s far east, where he had been reporting on military recruitment.
Investigators are seeking the freelance reporter’s testimony as they seek to identify his sources for an article about a top-secret operation in North Korea.
