Prosecutors said the police officer from Upper Pottsgrove, Pa., committed manslaughter when he fired on the student, who was returning from a night out at bars. A homeowner had reported a burglary in progress.
An officer with the Upper Pottsgrove Township Police Department shouted, “Hands up, hands up now, drop to the ground!” at the student. And then he fired.
