Labor Agency Watchdog to Review Hurdles to Statistics Bureau’s Work

The review comes weeks after President Trump fired the head of the statistics agency after an unexpectedly weak monthly jobs report.

Data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics came to President Trump’s attention after an unexpectedly weak jobs report. The downward revisions in 2024 and early 2025, with about a million fewer job created, were broad based, but were particularly pronounced in the services sector.
