What Crypto Custody Providers Do for Institutions and Ethereum Classic

Large companies often need help when they hold crypto. They may have many staff members, company rules, and legal rules to follow. They also need a clear record of every payment. For this reason, many institutional investors use special custody companies.

Crypto custody providers keep digital assets for their clients. They protect private keys, which are secret codes used to access crypto. They can also control who is allowed to send funds. This gives a company more control over its money.

How institutional custody works

Institutional crypto custody is different from using a personal wallet. In a company, one person may prepare a payment and another person may approve it. Some providers ask two or three people to approve a large transfer. This can lower the risk of a mistake or theft. The provider may keep private keys in offline storage. This means the keys are not always connected to the internet. It may also give each team member a different role. One person can view the balance, while another can send funds.

A company can learn about fees, supported coins, and account tools when it studies different institutional crypto services. It should also read information from other providers. The services may look similar, but the rules and costs can be different.

How providers support Ethereum Classic

Ethereum Classic uses ETC as its coin. A custody provider must support the ETC network before it can offer this asset to clients. It needs to create ETC wallet addresses and check payments on the network.

When a company receives ETC, the provider may wait for several confirmations. A confirmation shows that the payment was added to the blockchain. More confirmations can make the payment harder to change. Each provider may use a different number.

Digital asset custody also gives companies a record of their ETC activity. The account can show when coins came in, when they went out, and who approved the payment. This is useful for reports and company checks.

What should a company check?

First, the company should check if the provider supports ETC in its country. It should ask about fees, withdrawal times, security, insurance, and customer support. It should also check what happens if the network has a problem.

Institutional crypto services can make crypto easier to manage, but they cannot remove every risk. A company should compare several providers and choose one that fits its daily work and budget.
