U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly broke off trade talks with Canada Friday afternoon.

U.S. President Donald Trump says he is ending trade talks with Canada and will impose additional tariffs within a week in retaliation for Ottawa’s digital services tax.

Mr. Trump abruptly announced on Friday afternoon that he was walking away from the bargaining table in a seeming bid to ramp up pressure in the negotiations as the clock ticks down to his and Prime Minister Mark Carney’s self-imposed mid-July deadline for a deal.

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand says Ottawa remains very concerned about possible Iranian government activities in Canada after former justice minister Irwin Cotler warned Tehran may have activated sleeper cells in this country.

Speaking to reporters in The Hague on Tuesday, where she and other Canadian officials including Prime Minister Mark Carney are attending a NATO summit, Ms. Anand addressed comments made by Mr. Cotler to The Globe and Mail.
