Attorney-General’s lawyer asks court to consider parliamentary report on MAID for mental illness

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice must consider findings from a parliamentary committee that advised that medical assistance in dying be disallowed for patients whose sole medical condition is mental illness, a lawyer for the federal Attorney-General said Tuesday.

SickKids doctor arrested, charged with possession of child sexual abuse material

Toronto police arrested a doctor at the Hospital for Sick Children on Tuesday, charging him with accessing and possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.

    U.S. President Donald Trump's latest threat to impose 50 per cent tariffs on a wide swath of Canadian goods is more narrowly targeted than first feared, argues Royce Mendes, head of macro strategy at Desjardins.     Mounties say Saskatchewan Roughriders player Jayden Dalke was driving on the wrong side of a highway, with alcohol and cannabis in his SUV, when his vehicle crashed into another, killing him and a second driver. RCMP say 30-year-old Dalke of Leduc, Alta., and 22-year-old Bhishma Rajyaguru from Regina died in the Saturday night crash on Highway 11 near Lumsden, northwest of Regina.
